Are your earrings fragile? (I want to order, but I’m afraid I’ll break them!)
All of our glass earrings are made from American Pyrex, known as borosilicate. Borosilicate is the main glass used in laboratories because of its strength and durability. Even though the jewelry is made of a material that is fragile, the earrings are surprisingly durable with the proper care, and this has been proven by 9 years of amazing feedback from our clients saying so. How do I care for my earrings to ensure they last a long time?
For long-lived glass hanging shapes, find a secure place to store them when you aren’t wearing them. We’ve gotten a lot of wild stories from clients having catastrophes because a pet or roommate knocked them off of a shelf or table by accident. When you are taking them out or putting them in, make sure you are in a place with soft carpeting in case of a falling earring. Bathroom tiles are the biggest threat, which is why we encourage you to not wear your jewelry in the shower. Shoot us a note if you need a suggestion for a durable pair you can wear all the time, we can suggest some of our more compact designs that are better for wearing 24/7, especially with silicone O-rings to keep them from falling out.
One of my earrings broke! What can I do?
DON’T PANIC! We make replacement singles for half the price of a custom pair + S&H. If the unfortunate should occur, just contact us and we will get shipping instructions to you so we can make you a replacement ASAP. Note: Glass colors are constantly changing and we do our best to keep all colors in stock, but occasionally a color may be discontinued. In this case, we will work with you to get you the closest match possible.
Can you do a replacement from a photo?
We prefer that you ship us your single/good earring to use as a guide. This ensures that you will have the closest match possible in color and size. However, if it is difficult for you to ship us your earring, contact us and we will send you the instructions for sending a photo. (We charge an extra $10 to process matches from photos to cover the time it takes to process the photo into a scaled guide)
Do you ship Internationally, outside the USA?
Yes. If you are concerned about turnaround time, just shoot us a message. We do offer expedited International shipping for an extra fee, so let us know when you need your jewelry if you are in a rush and we will do our best to accomidate.
The colors look different in different photos. How can I be sure that they will look the way I want?
The photos show off how the color looks in different lighting environments. Many of our colors seem to shift depending on the angle of light so we want to show the range of what the pair will look like. For custom orders, we order the colors in batches and each batch can sometimes be just a hair different than the last… depending on the color. If you are concerned about the color of your custom order, please shoot us an email and send us a link to the photo of the color you want with as many details as possible about your order (especially your earring size) and we will let you know if we can match it. We want you to be absolutely happy with your order.
Can I custom order? I don’t see my size in the color I want.
Yes, we are currently accepting custom orders. Send us a message with the size, color, and shape that you want. All of our colors are available in any shape from 6G – 0G, more limited designs and colors are available for sizes 14G – 5/8”. Let us know as many details as you can and we will give you the best options that are closest to what you want.
What is your turn around time on in stock or custom orders?
Turn around is usually within 2 business days for in stock items and typically less than 10 business days for custom orders depending on our current order volume. Our average turnaround is 5 business days for custom orders. When you place your order, let us know if it is a rush and we can do our best to expedite it. During travel times, trade shows, and holidays, custom order turn around can be delayed, but we’ve been known to work miracles. (Some of them being; last minute wedding orders, photo-shoot orders, or something special for a night out on the town) We strive to accommodate you to the best of our ability if our timing allows! We also deeply empathize with last minute inspirations of adornment… those are some of the best moments and fingers crossed we can make it happen for you!
Do you offer discounts or payment plans?
Occasionally. The best way to get in the loop about deals is to subscribe to our email list. We have occasional sales on overstock jewelry and during holidays. But… the best way to score a deal on Glassheart jewelry is to order through your local piercing shop. Their prices will always be lower than ours and you might also discover some amazing jewelry from other designers in the body jewelry community.
Where can I buy your jewelry in person? Do you sell to piercing shops?
Let us know where you are located. We will let you know if there is a piercing shop that sells Glassheart near you. If your local piercing shop doesn’t carry us, perhaps they need to. Contact us if you are interested in being a Glassheart ambassador.
I’m a piercer or retail business owner and I’m interested in selling Glassheart in my shop. How do I get a wholesale account?
We’d be very excited for the opportunity to work with you! Contact us with your shop info; Name, Studio/Shop name, Address, Email, Phone #, EIN or business ID #. Let us know what you are interested in carrying and we will get you all the info you need to get ordering for your shop.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes. Just contact us with the amount you would like your certificate to be for and we will send you instructions and a link to print your certificate.
Can you make a pair in 18G? I don’t want to stretch but I love your jewelry!
We are working on a line of ear wire jewelry made from Sterling Silver and other materials like titanium and steel. If you are interested, please shoot us a note with the style you are dreaming of and we will put you on our list to contact as soon as these babies are ready.
How big can you go?
It depends on the color and shape. All of our colors and shapes can be made up to 0G, but with a limited color line we can go as big as 5/8”. Shoot us a message with the details of what you would like; size/color/style/mini or full, and we will get back to you with what we can do. If you are larger than 5/8”, most of our shapes work really well through hollow eyelets. There is a company here in Portland, OR called Kaos that makes gorgeous silicon eyelets that are perfect to host our jewelry. Go to www.kaossoftware.com to check out what they have to offer.
Can you help me pick a color for my wedding pair?
We would be honored. If you can, send us photos of your wedding dress, wedding colors, jewelry that you are drawn too or ideas for what you are wishing for, and let us know your wedding date. We will gladly get back with you with ideas for your special day.
I got my order but it’s not what I was expecting. What can I do?
Keep your jewelry in its packaging and contact us within 3 business days from the receipt of your order. We will refund any unworn jewelry that is returned within a week (5 business days) from you receiving your order. If it is longer than a week and your jewelry is unworn, we will gladly honor an exchange. You are responsible for the shipping cost on any returns and a $10 restocking fee after the 5-business day grace period.
Can I visit your shop in Portland?
Yes, by appointment. We love to have visitors to our studio and show you where and how the jewelry is made.
Do you make plugs or other jewelry besides hanging ear shapes?
